What comes to mind.
Three cheers for insomnia, I get a lot of work done between 3 and 5 in the morning. This is about 28 hours into working on her; Irene Massazza at 18, December 1928. Imagery is pulled from nine photographs, much overpainting - the model is of marble, she's been outdoors in Milan for 88 years, and has stains, bits of plant matter, insects stuck to her; and, it was raining when I photographed her. I'd thought to print her 18 x 27 inches, but might print 26 x 39 inches instead. She was a mischievous lass, who died along with tens of thousands of other Milanese in an outbreak of scarlet fever.
